Caleb stories

I guess he's gotten to the age where we are going to have more and more of these entertaining sayings to remember. He has just cracked us up so many times lately!

Wednesday night I was in the nursery with all 4 boys, and one volunteer. A lady from the church popped in, just to enjoy watching the babies for a bit. When she saw Caleb and Aidan bouncing around in the soft block train structure, she exclaimed, good-naturedly, "Oh, Mercy!". Here's the exchange that followed.

Caleb: "My name's not Mercy, its Caleb", "and his name is Aidan, and his is Kellan, and that's Ethan". He pauses for a moment and looks at the volunteer, "Are you Mercy?" After she, giggling, responds "no", he looks back at the lady with his hands in the air, "I guess there are no Mercies around here."

She laughs, introduces herself as "Phyliss",and proceeds to help him by prodding, "can you say "Phil- less"?"

Caleb: "yes, Phil-less", "and my name is Caleb, can you say Ca -leb?" with the same intonation she used.

I'm probably not retelling it nearly right, but we were all cracking up big time.

He also had this exchange with Daddy the other day.
He had just buckled himself in his carseat...
Weston:"Caleb, I am so proud of you!"
Caleb: "and Daddy, I am so proud of you!"
Weston: "Why are you proud of me?"
Caleb: "Because you said you were proud of me!"

And the kid of the day award goes to...

Caleb!

On Sunday, he was in a super good, super polite mood all day.An example; in the van we had this conversation...

Caleb:
"Mommy, some kids at church can say the word 'kill' and their mommies and daddies think its okay.".

(we just recently decided to crack down on this word in his play... he can say "I'm going to get you" instead.)

(First time he's pulled that argument, by the way...)

Me: "Well, that might be okay for them but not for you. Your mommy and daddy do not want you to use that word".

Here I expected some form of protest, but no, Caleb,as sweet as can be:
"Oh, its okay mommy, I don't use that word anymore" "And I will never use that word again".

Then, when we got home that night after a trip to the DQ with some students and staff, and he tells Weston, totally unprompted. "Thank you for taking us to get ice cream daddy, that was a special treat."

Aidan Up to 2

Aidan so far...

Happy 2nd Birthday Aidan!

Can't believe you are 2! We celebrated with a fun Buzz Lightyear Party on Wednesday, with lots of friends squeezed into our little duplex. Aidan had a blast and it was so fun to see his excitement and enthusiasm. His favorite part was when during one of the games, Space Ranger Training, he got to throw a ball at "Emperor Zurg" to "get him". He has wanted to do this over and over since the party... And he is having a blast playing with his new toys. Today, his actual birthday, we will have a fun meal and open a few more gifts. Its so fun to celebrate your child! We are so blessed to have Aidan in our family!

Funny Caleb

He often cracks us up with the funny things he says, but I usually forget the details later. Here is something he just said...

He and Aidan were playing with these bouncy balls on an elastic string thing, and the one he was playing with broke. I was feeding the twins, and he exclaims, "oh no, its broke, can you fix it mom?" I replied that I probably couldn't, and he said, "oh, well, whose is this one?" (the one that he was playing with that broke) and I responded that I didn't know, in a kind of frustrated tone (they are different colors, but I couldn't remember who originally got which color). Caleb then says rather frustrated himself, "just pick then mom", followed by, "I know, Aidan's can be this one (the one that broke)". He was being totally serious, and spoke with such deliberate logic, and I just cracked up.

Last week at the mall, the boys were playing with some cars, and Caleb comes over to me, "Mom, do Oxleys share?" I laughed but said, "yes, Oxleys share". Next he asked, "Is Aidan an Oxley?", to which I replied "yes". "Well, that Oxley is not sharing!" exclaimed Caleb.

Where the twins are at... 10 months.

Just wanted to record a few differences and milestones in the twins at 10 months.

Ethan is still a bit more gregarious and happy-go-lucky. Kellan is friendly and happy also, but sometimes puts on this "you can try, but I'm really not that amused" deadpan face. Needless to say, we didn't get a very good 9 month professional picture of him.

Ethan is pulling up now, on a few things, but Kellan isn't quite. Kellan also has a harder time getting down from the standing position.

Kellan has also become much more picky about the foods he'll eat, and hates the "3rd Foods" that have little chunks of meats and vegetables. He gags and throws up. Guess he might take more after Caleb in that arena.

Both seem to be saying "that" and "this". Kind of in the context of "what's that? and "what's this?", all slurred together. I don't know if I'm ready to count it as their first word yet (aside from dada, mama, and baba) , but its getting close. They also have just about gotten the sign for "more" down, Ethan esp.

Both currently love the bath, banana cookies, and being tickled. :)

4 Sippy Cups

Just had to record that at this time in my life, I am having to prepare/keep track of 4 sippy cups! Yikes!
