Meet Luke

We decided awhile back that Caleb's 5th Birthday would be a good time for a 'first pet'. I had guinea pigs growing up, and in my classroom when I taught, and we thought this would make the most sense. Caleb was easy to convince.
We looked at a few pet stores, but they were pricey and pretty ugly. I've always thought the medium hair tricolored ones were the cutest, but they can be hard to find. I spent some time searching around online, and found an ad for a perfect one in the Quad Cities Classifieds. He/she was a lot cheaper, and one month old, and adorable! We picked it up last night, and Caleb is tickled pink. And of course, he named it "Luke", after Luke Skywalker.

A Wonderful Day

Last Friday was a very special day! It was our 10 year wedding anniversary, and we had a doctor appt. in the AM. This was the first appt. in which they were going to listen for the baby's heartbeat, and I was pretty nervous! Crae came and watched the kids (actually she spent all day and night here) so that Weston could come to the appt. with me, and it went great. The midwife heard the heartbeat right away, but the little guy/gal was moving around so much she also brought in the U/S machine to do a quick peek as well. That was a big relief, to see that glorious image of the little heart beating. Plus we got to find out there is definitely only one! We also got to go out to lunch together, and then in the evening, had a nice date night with dinner out and a movie. (That's a rare treat!) A very special day!

Father's Day

We had a full and fun Father's Day! After church, we drove up to the Quad Cities because there was an air show going on. Caleb is really into fighter jets right now, and has decided that that's what he wants to be when he grows up (a fighter jet pilot).
Weston has always loved planes too, and although we didn't want to spend the money to actually attend (esp. with 4 little guys who wouldn't last very long, and in the heat we've been having), we thought we'd try to see what we could see just driving around. Well, we found a great spot to park, and sit on the grass and see tons! The best was the Harrier, and then the amazing Blue Angels. It was seriously one of the coolest things I've ever seen. We were all in awe, and Caleb was thrilled beyond words.
We also visited a couple pet stores up there, pricing out guinea pigs, as we are going to get one for Caleb as a 'first pet' for his birthday. We drove home, ate pizza for dinner here, with some very worn out kids, and then went to a Drive-In movie to see "Up". The kids actually did great, even though the movie didn't end until 11PM, and the twins hadn't even napped all day.
It was a very eventful day, and we had a great time as a family. Weston commented that he couldn't have ordered up a much better Father's Day. :)
But would you believe I didn't have my camera with me? So here are a few cell phone pictures, so I could at least share something. Here's Ethan at the Drive-In.

almost forgotten pics

I was looking through the last few months of pictures, and realized I missed a few I wanted to put up, so here they are.

All my boys love bugs...

A rainy day walk. Almost as fun as getting them all in snow clothes.

Warm weather fun.

Isn't this the sweetest face? Anyone care to venture a guess as to which twin it is? :)

Fun day at the Family Museum

On Monday we took the boys to the Bettendorf Family Museum. We had a really fun time! It has been especially fun lately because Kellan and Ethan are really getting a lot out of experiences like this and totally enjoying them! Ethan could've played with the xylophones for hours! Best part? We used free tickets we had from last summer when we were there and the power went out. Saved us over $30! :)

And don't worry, Caleb and Aidan got their hair cut the next day, so we can see their eyes again. :)

Tee-Ball

Caleb and Aidan's season of God's Little League runs through June. It's pretty low-key, with 2 games a week for 4 weeks. Just perfect for our little guys. Aidan is super excited about being old enough to play this year. It was so hard for him just to watch last year... and now it's so hard for Kellan and Ethan 'just to watch'. Another change this year, Weston is coaching! For those of you who know how much he dislikes baseball, it's pretty funny. He just got frustrated with the chaos on the field last year, and decided he'd have to have some control this year. Funny thing is, all of our team is pretty mild-mannered this year, and it doesn't seem as big an issue. Here are some pictures of the first game.

Memorial Day Parade

We all (even though Aidan's picture seems to say otherwise) had a fun time at our Memorial Day parade! Have I mentioned lately how much I love living in a small town?

Their "night nights"

Caleb and Aidan are definitely blankie boys. Both are extremely attached to theirs, and I never want to think of the possibility of losing one some day. The twins haven't taken to them quite as much, but lately they have been requesting a tuck in with their 'night nights' as part of their bedtime routine, and of course that means tucking in their beloved animals as well. This day, they had to take them downstairs with them after naps, and were just too cute. Had to snap some pictures. Ethan has the blue dog.

the Zoo

We were so lucky to have Grandpa Alan and Granny B visit for Memorial Day weekend. The boys were thrilled to have so much attention lavished on them, and they especially enjoyed our day at the zoo!

"Kelney"

The twins have developed their own name for each other, "Kelney". They each call the other it, and as strange as it seems, it's pretty cute, as are they. So fun to see their bond growing even closer.
