Giant Slip-n-Slide

 

 

 

There is not much that can compare to a giant slip-n-slide, especially with 30 junior highers egging you on.

 

Sure had some soapy, dirty, exhausted, and happy kids afterwards.

New Hairstyles

 
 
 

Ethan had been asking for awhile to get his hair cut short, with spikes. Apparently a friend at school who had earned his admiration was sporting this look. I wasn't quite ready to concede spikes all over, or a mo-hawk, but I thought we could try the faux-hawk look.

Kellan was adament that he wanted his short also, but no spikes! Our hairstylist was able to give them the same haircut, but they can just wear it differently. This mom appreciated not having to fully give up their identical twinness just yet. But I love how these new looks totally reflect their personalities. Ethan is kind of zany, and Kellan is pretty strait-laced. In fact, after he got his cut, the stylist put some gel in and tossled it up a bit, and he was quick to express that he did not like it. He wanted it combed straight. That's my Kellan.

Ethan the Pilot

 
 

Last year during Stearman Days, Ethan won a free aerial tour of Galesburg. We'd had the certificate on our board all year, and last week we finally got around to using it. He was allowed to take 2 other passengers. We chose Daddy and Caleb to accompany him. Caleb has always been enamored with flying, and he won 3rd place in the same contest (with a prize of a poster), so we thought it was the most fair choice.

What lucky boys! They had such an incredible time! Especially Ethan, who sat up front and helped 'co-pilot' the plane. What an experience!

Mommy and the other boys watched from the ground and waved as they did a fly-by. Very very cool.

Rockin' Quinn

 

During a youth cookout on a hot and muggy August evening, some of our high schoolers had a little fun with Quinn's hair. We discovered this picture on the youth camera. Such a sweet face.

Aidan's First Day of Kindergarten

This was a much anticipated day. He'd been counting down forever, eagerly awaiting this rite of passage into the big kid world. Not a tad of anxiety. He actually even shrugged my hand away as if I was ruining his coolness factor as we walked up to the line.

Summer's End
